'NOT UP TO IT'

Labour MPs slip into despair as final PMQs drubbing for Jeremy Corbyn gives them horrible glimpse of the electoral oblivion to come

ONE WAY or the other this will likely be the last time this PM and Leader of the Opposition will face each other - and the turn out in the House of Commons reflected this historic moment.

The Labour benches looked miserable enough before proceedings even began, and they gradually slipped into despair.

Their fate looks set, and many glum MPs on the opposition side knew this would likely be the last time they would sit on the green benches.

To add insult to injury Mr Corbyn stood up to thank those standing down at the election for their service - there was plenty of muttering from those behind him who will standing down but hardly out of choice.

And Mrs May was merciless.

While Mr Corbyn returned to his original schtick of asking questions on behalf of the public, to groans from all sides of the House, the PM used the final bout before Britain goes to the polls to craft and hone her ruthless campaign slogans.

Opening with a blistering assault on Mr Corbyn's policy chief and Shadow Chancellor for signing a 2015 pledge - first revealed by The Sun - to disband MI5 and disarm the police, the silence of Labour benches was met with a war-like cry from the Government side.

The roar of the Tories - on the cusp of an historic routing - only got louder as Mrs May dropped prop after prop - including Labour's own website that concedes voters are worried the hapless Labour chief is terrorist sympathiser.

Heads were in hands by the end - you could fast forward the next seven weeks after watching this final debate and get a pretty clear of what the result is going to be in June....
