UFC 314 – Paddy Pimblett vs Michael Chandler LIVE RESULTS: The Baddy WINS bloody brawl, Volkanovski beats Lopes

PADDY PIMBLETT defeated Michael Chandler with a merciless performance, earning the greatest victory of his UFC career to date.

Liverpool's favourite "Paddy The Baddy" dominated the UFC 314 co-main event in Miami early on Sunday morning, delivering a stunning victory to propel him into the top 10 of the lightweight rankings and maybe serve as a pivotal moment in his quest for a world title.

The fight served as the main support act for the big fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes for the men's featherweight title, which Volk won to reclaim the title he had held for almost four years before losing it to Ilia Topuria.

Legendary four-time Bellator world champion Patricio Pitbull lost his eagerly anticipated UFC debut against Mexico's Yair Rodriguez.

Recap all the action and latest reaction to an incredible night in Miami below

  • Yair Rodriguez vs Patricio Pitbull – Round 3

A devasting round by Yair Rodriguez!

After a slow start by both men, Yair lands a big blow that drops Pitbull, leading to damaging elbows that almost had the former Bellator fighter out of there.

He then transitions to an Armbar that has Pitbull worried but the Brazilian escapes.

That round was much more of what the fans expected to see!

We now wait for the judge's scorecards for a decision.

  • Yair Rodriguez vs Patricio Pitbull – Round 2

Much better from Pitbull who has found his timing in this second round, landing nice combinations.

He then completes a takedown, but Rodriguez gets back to his feet quickly.

Some wonderful kicks land for the Mexican but Pitbull is unfazed.

A much closer round between the two men, with Rodriguez being more active but Pitbull arguably landed the better strikes.

  • Yair Rodriguez vs Patricio Pitbull - Round 1

A measured start by both men, who are looking to set up traps on the feet.

Rodriguez uses his wonderful Taekwondo to come at his opponent from all angles.

He's already pulled out a jumping switch-kick and a spinning head kick.

This tentative start from Pitbull doesn't look great as he has barely thrown anything with significance in the first round.

  • The featherweights keep on coming

This fight card has so many fantastic matchups.

Next up, we have Yair Rodriguez vs Patricio Pitbull, two exciting strikers who always try and get a finish.

This is Pitbulls long-awaited debut in the UFC with fans wishing he was in the promotion a long time ago.

Now at 37, he leaves Bellator and enters the UFC octagon after defeating Jeremy Kennedy by TKO.

He faces number five-ranked Yair Rodriguez who is on a two-fight losing skid, losing to Brian Ortega and Alexander Volkanovski.

These two men always produce entertainment when they fight, hopefully this bout is the same.

  • Jean Silva wins by Submission in round 2!

After a dominant display on the feet, Jean Silva transitions to a D'Arce choke after Mitchell failed a takedown.

He manages to sink it in, forcing Mitchell to tap.

A wonderful performance from Silva who looked calm and in control of the entire fight.

He now moves to five wins in a row in the UFC and will be looking at huge fights at the top of the featherweight division.

  • Bryce Mitchell vs Jean Silva - Round 1

A tense opening start to the round as Silva goes in to touch gloves but Mitchell had none of it.

Silva has a big smirk on his face, clearly feeling calm in the fight with lots of weapons up his sleeve.

The Brazilian is using kicks a lot, going from high to low and also to the mid-section.

As Mitchell almost secures a takedown, Silva almost locks in a Guillotine choke that almost has the American submitted.

    What a fight so far!

  • Featherweight clash

A highly-anticipated fight is now up next with Bryce Mitchell taking on surging contender Jean Silva.

After wild controversy, Mitchell returns to the UFC which many fans were not sure was going to happen.

He’s coming off a mixed bag of results, most recently a TKO victory against Kron Gracie, but before that, he was on the wrong end of one of the craziest knockouts in MMA history against Josh Emmet.

His opponent Silva is a rising star in the UFC with his crazy personality and fun fight style, fans are super excited to see how this one plays out.

    Me included.

  • The shot that put Krylov's lights out

This devasting left hook was all that was needed to sit Krylov down, with no follow-up shots needed.

Reyes now moves to three wins in a row and will be looking for someone in the top 10 next.

  • Dominick Reyes wins by KO in round 1!

    Wow that was crazy!

After a fast start that saw both men land big blows, there was a feeling in the crowd this could be over suddenly.

And with a massive left hook Reyes flattens Krylov and jumps on the cage in celebration.

What a Journey Reyes has been on and what a victory that was!

  • Main card opener

We now move to the heaviest fight of the night as Nikita Krylov Takes on Dominick Reyes in the Light-heavyweight division.

After some difficult losses to Paul Craig and current champ Magomed Ankalaev, Krylov has formed a three-fight win streak which has seen him rise to the number eight in the rankings.

He faces number eleven-ranked Dominick Reyes who similarly went on a rough patch, but then turned it around in 2024 with wins over Dustin Jacoby and Anthony Smith.

A win for either man could see them get a big fight against one of the top contenders in the Light-heavyweight division

  • Trump is in the building!

The 47th president of the United States is here in Miami for this fantastic main card.

He walks into the Arena to Kid Rock with his good friend Dana White.

I wonder who he's rooting for in the main event?

  • Dan Ige wins by TKO!

But was that a fair stoppage?

After a great start from Ige who wobbles Woodson with a huge left hand, he follows up with great combinations to the head.

But as Woodson begins to recover and get back to his feet, the refs waives off the fight.

That was definitely an early stoppage with Woodson protesting immediately.

  • Dan Ige vs Sean Woodson – Round 2

    Another close round.

Ige closes the distance well, putting Woodson up against the cage.

And doing so he even changes levels and goes for a few takedown attempts, however Woodson with his range sees it coming and defends superbly.

We go into round three with both of the previous rounds being extremely tight.

    Let's see how it goes.

  • Dan Ige vs Sean Woodson - Round 1

The buzzer sounds and it is very evident how much taller Woodson is.

Standing at 5'7, Ige does well to get on the inside of Woodson as he uses his slick boxing to mix up the attacks.

6'2 Woodson uses his long legs to his advantage landing nice leg kicks and stopping the momentum of his opponent.

A close round one sees both men have good results on the feet.

This could go either way in rounds two and three.

  • Feature prelim fight

Dan Ige vs Sean Woodson is our next bout in Miami.

Ige is ranked number 15 in the featherweight division and will be hoping to keep his place as he welcomes his opponent to ranked fights.

He has lost his last two fights to two of the best featherweights currently in the UFC, most recently to Lerone Murphy and before that to Diego Lopes – who is fighting for the belt in our main event tonight.

Woodson is a very intriguing fighter in the division, he stands at 6’2 as a featherweight making him one of the tallest in the weight class.

He also possesses a unique frame for his size, with incredibly long limbs compared to his torso, which allows him to keep the fight at a distance using kicks and straight punches.

With a win over Ige, it will see him enter the featherweight rankings.

  • Yan Xiaonan vs Virna Jandiroba – Round 3

Xiaonan tries to get her striking going landing some nice combinations.

Jandiroba tries to close the distance but is defended well up on the cage.

The relentless pressure, however, was just too much for Xiaonan who conceded position leading to a takedown.

A dominant display from Jandiroba, who landed nice ground and pound and tried many submission attempts.

We now wait for the judge's scorecards.

  • Yan Xiaonan vs Virna Jandiroba – Round 2

Another rapid entry from Jandiroba sees her take the back of Xiaonan.

She attempts to weave in a rear-naked choke but the number one contender does well to avoid it.

Xiaonan escapes for a moment and lands some good punches on top but the threat of the grappling is clearly on her mind.

A dominant display by Jandiroba sees her take a likely 2-0 on the judges scorecards - but she'll be hoping to get her opponent out of there in the next round.

  •  Yan Xiaonan vs Virna Jandiroba - Round 1

Jandiroba comes out quick trying to get the takedown attempt but Xiaonan does well to shrug it off.

However, Jandiroba is relentless in her pursuit and manages to get her to the ground.

Some nice ground strikes by both women as Xiaonan tries to get back to her feet but theBraziliann does well to control.

With just seconds to go Jandiroba almost secures an armbar submission but isn't quite able to lock it in before the buzzer goes.

Coming into the round Hooper looked much the fresher fighter with Miller looking his age and has had to defend a lot of attacks.

The 25-year-old resumes the dominance and takes down his opponent in the first 60 seconds of round three.

In this round, The Jiu-Jitsu master specifically was pursuing leg lock submissions but once again the veteran defends well.

After a tentative first minute of the fight, both men clash in huge grappling exchanges!

With Hooper trying to close the distance and get a takedown, Miller attempts a guillotine choke that was almost locked in.

As for Jim Miller, the 41-year-old got back to winning ways last November against Damon Jackson with a Guillotine choke.
