A WOMAN who went on Mounjaro in a bid to lose weight has issued an urgent warning to anyone considering the fat jab.

Lucinda explained that the weight "piled on" during the Covid-19 lockdown, so her "usual weight" of 10 to 10-and-a-half stone went out the window.

She ended up at 20 stone - double her pre-pandemic weight - and decided to go and seek advice from her GP.

The doctor suggested going on a weight loss plan supported by the NHS, which Lucinda did, but there was hardly any change to her health.

So the next step was to go on a weight loss injection called Wegovy, also known as semaglutide, and Lucinda lost three stone in the space of two months.

"I was then taken off this because I've decided myself that I'm gonna go down the route of a bariatric operation," she explained.

"And I've just been given the OK for that, which is amazing news for me!"

However, as she was still struggling to lose weight before the operation, she decided to "take it upon" herself to try Mounjaro.

"I was okay with it for the first two weeks," Lucinda continued.

"I injected as I should, I followed the instructions.

"And I woke up one morning and I was blind

"Blind, couldn't see around."

Lucinda called her doctor, "panicking",and admitted she could only just see the screen on her phone.

When she spoke to the doctor and told him she'd been taking Mounjaro he told her to "come off it now" and to "stop immediately".

"The number of cases they've had of people losing their vision on Mounjaro injections, and it's not mentioned in the news?" Lucinda questioned.

Concluding her video, she urged people not to "risk" taking the drug as she said: "I'm 33.

"Can't be going blind at 33 off of taking a weight loss injection!"

She also insisted: "You just got to be so careful with these things.

What to do if you lose too much weight too quickly whilst on Mounjaro

IF you're losing too much weight too quickly while on Mounjaro, it’s important to take action to avoid potential health risks like muscle loss, malnutrition, dehydration, and fatigue. Here’s what you can do:

Evaluate Your Caloric Intake

Mounjaro reduces appetite, which can make it easy to eat too little. If you're losing weight too fast (more than two to three lbs per week after the initial adjustment period), try:

  • Tracking your food intake to ensure you're eating enough calories (apps like MyFitnessPal can help).
  • Increasing protein intake to preserve muscle mass (aim for 0.6–1g per pound of body weight).
  • Adding healthy fats and complex carbs (e.g., avocados, nuts, whole grains) for balanced energy.

Adjust Your Dosage (With Doctor’s Approval)

If your weight loss is too rapid or causing side effects, your doctor may:

  • Pause dose increases or lower your dosage.
  • Adjust your treatment plan to stabilise your weight loss.

Strength Training & Exercise

To prevent muscle loss:

  • Incorporate resistance training at least two to three times per week.
  • Stay active with low-impact exercises like walking or yoga.

Hydrate & Manage Electrolytes

  • Drink enough water (Mounjaro can reduce thirst).
  • Electrolytes matter - Consider adding magnesium, sodium, and potassium if you feel weak or fatigued.

Monitor for Malnutrition & Deficiencies

Rapid weight loss can cause vitamin/mineral deficiencies (especially B12, iron, and electrolytes). If you experience:

  • Fatigue, hair loss, or dizziness, ask your doctor about supplements.

Consider Further Medical Guidance

If your weight loss is excessive or causing health concerns, speak with your healthcare provider.

They might adjust your dosage, diet, or exercise plan to help stabilise your weight loss.

"The best thing to do is go to your doctor and tell them you are really struggling with weight loss and you need help, and they will put you in the right direction."

"Mounjaro, please don't risk it," she wrote over the top of her video.

Scientifically speaking, Mounjaro leads to a rapid improvement in blood sugar levels, which can temporarily worsen a condition called diabetic retinopathy - which affects the blood vessels in the retina.

This can then result in blurry vision.
