‘They’re made for giants!’ Aldi shoppers slam new ‘super-size’ trolleys, claiming they’re too big to push
Customers are complaining that shorter people find it impossible to operate the new 212-litre frame on wheels

ALDI shoppers are up in arms, claiming the store's new enlarged trolleys are 'built for giants'.
The supermarket introduced the new 212-litre frame on wheels in several of its Australian branches to enable customers to stock up on more items as they work their way around the shop floor.
But many shoppers claim the new, super-size trolleys are a "health hazard" and discriminate against shorter people as they're near impossible to manoeuvre.
One devoted customer from Victoria, Australia, who wished to remain anonymous, vented her frustration on the German supermarket's Facebook page.
She wrote: "I have always been an avid supporter of your stores however I must say the new trolleys are ridiculous.
"It is like they are made for giants. They are too tall and really difficult to maneuver [sic] around the store.
"I heard a bunch of ladies talking in the store saying they are considering shopping elsewhere and to tell you the truth I'm considering it too.
"My suggestion, bring back the old trolleys. There was nothing wrong with them."
One shopper described the trolleys as “so tall I struggled to get my daughter in the seat and it’s hard lifting bags of groceries out”.
Another customer said the new design, rolled out in Portland, Australia, is completely impractical, the .
She explained: “I am 160cm tall and don’t wear heels, the grab bar is too high and came up to my chest.
“Manoeuvring a half load of groceries is difficult, and bending in to unload is dangerous not to mention uncomfortable and undignified.”

She admitted that when she returned to the supermarket this week, some of the original trolleys had been restored.
She added: “They are now offering a choice which is good.”
In a statement, Aldi said its 212-litre trolley size in most stores was a result of “extensive consumer research to deliver a more enjoyable shopping experience”.
It continued: “A key priority for Aldi Australia is to remain nimble and adapt our shopping experience to meet the needs of tomorrow’s consumer.
"To do this, we regularly seek consumer feedback on our product range and in-store experience."
