But the couple were forced to put the luxurious pad on the market in 2011 after health problems limited them to using only two rooms.
At the time the cost of upkeeping the whole property was around £2,400 per month.
The house was built by maverick entrepreneur and aviator Howard Hughes in 1955 and was once home to Elvis Presley.
Zsa Zsa purchased the French Regency-style property for $280,000 in 1973, two years before marrying sixth husband Jack Ryan.

Over the years, Zsa Zsa has hosted a multitude of famous faces at the luxury mansion - including Queen Elizabeth and US Presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush Snr.
The property was also rented out to Hollywood productions and featured in the HBO special Behind the Candelabra and 2012 Oscar smash Argo.
