One in five Brits have bumped into someone they know on holiday
The Canary Islands is the most likely place to see a familiar face, followed by Turkey and mainland Spain

It really is a small world!
New research has shown that one in five Brits have bumped into someone they know while on holiday abroad.
If your worst nightmare involves your next door neighbour or work colleague seeing you in hot pants and a healthy dose of sun block, there are some places you'll want to avoid booking this year too.
According to the survey of more than 2,000 people by JetCost, 14 per cent of people who'd bumped into someone on holiday had done so in the Canary Islands.
The second most popular place was Turkey, with 12 per cent, and mainland Spain was third with 11 per cent, followed by Egypt and Greece both with six per cent.
When asked in which situations they’d seen their friends or colleagues from home, 34 per cent revealed they had been "at the resort" 30 per cent were in the airport and 22 per cent were on the beach.
Not everyone was delighted to see a familiar face though - 20 per cent of those who saw someone they knew avoided them, while another 33 per cent just waved from afar and carried on.
It turns out that Germans are even more likely to spot someone they know while on holiday abroad.
Of the Germans questioned in the same survey, 26 per cent admitted they had bumped into someone abroad, compared to 17 per cent of French people and 15 per cent of Italians.
