LABOUR AT WAR

Labour MP calls anti-Jeremy Corbyn colleagues ‘c***s’ as they call for leader’s resignation

LABOUR’S bitter election fallout deepened yesterday when a pro-Corbyn MP branded his colleagues “c***s” for calling for the hapless leader to go now.

Leftwinger Lloyd Russell-Moyle accused other Labour MPs furious with the Opposition boss of acting out of ulterior motives.

Instead of accepting any personal blame for Jeremy Corbyn or his failed manifesto, the Brighton MP instead insisted Labour lost the election because the party and its MPs didn’t fight hard enough.

Mr Russell-Moyle declared: “Fighting spirit is what we need. It’s what we lacked in the election”.

'A C***ISH THING TO SAY'

The explosive remarks came in an exchange with a Labour colleague on Facebook messenger, which has been leaked to The Sun.

Asked by the colleague why he wasn’t joining calls for Mr Corbyn to resign, Mr Russell-Moyle declared: “Because I’m not a c*** like those calling for his immediate resignation”.

The firebrand MP added: “All the people saying stand down immediately are not saying it in good faith and that’s reason enough to ignore.

“Anyone (who) says that they knew exactly what was wrong I’m afraid is a liar and a charlatan, and I will take no lessons from people who have spent the time undermining the party in all sorts of manners of (sic) the last few years”.

In the conversation, Mr Russell-Moyle also stuck the knife into moderate Labour MP and potential leadership contender Jess Phillips, a long-standing Corbyn critic.

Referring also to veteran Labour MP John Spellar, he added: “Jess Phillips would be a disaster. I think she would be truly terrible. I would have anyone but Jess. Well, maybe not anyone – Speller (sic) would be worse”.

When contacted by The Sun last night about his attack on other Labour MPs and the use of his language, Mr Russell-Moyle said: “I said that because calling for Jeremy to go now is a silly and I would go so far to say c***ish thing to say.

"The best thing is for Jeremy Corbyn is to move aside in an orderly and organised fashion.

“In private communications, it is an acceptable word to use, in public though it wouldn’t be.”

He also accused the person who leaked the messages to be a suspended member of the party.

Mr Russell-Moyle added: “People were speaking with knee jerk reactions the day after the election. We were hurting”.
