IT HAS emerged that Football pundit Richard Keys could be beaten with a LASH if he is proved to have had an affair with his daughter's friend.
Sex outside marriage is illegal in Qatar, the the Islamic country where Keys presents a show for BeIN Sports.
Article 88 of Qatar's criminal code declares the punishment for adultery is 100 lashes and in 2006 a Filipino woman was sentenced to 100 lashes for the offence.
A number of other Brits have fallen foul of ultra-hardline Islamic justice.
Gavin Sherrard-Smith was sentenced to 50 lashes after the police accused him of selling alcohol to a Muslim in Qatar in 1993.
Mr Sherrard-Smith has always denied the allegation, but was whipped with a bamboo cane regardless.
The computer expert, who was 30 at the time, had to lie face-first on the floor while officials and guards watched as the savage beating was administered.
He told the : "With each blow, the skin softened and the pain grew and grew to the point that my whole back felt like it was on fire.
"I had never felt anything like it before, and I hope I will never feel anything like it again.

In 1978 Nigel Maidment, 27, and Brian Cooper, 35, spent six months in a Saudi prison and were lashed 70 times in a market square.
The pair, who worked in construction, were accused of distilling and selling booze. They returned to Britain afterwards.
A 74-year old British pensioner was sentenced to 350 lashes after completing a year in jail in Saudi Arabia for illegally carrying alcohol.
