Hillary Clinton vowed to ‘ring’ China with missiles over North Korea threat, Wikileaks emails say

Leaked documents show US Presidential candidate's bid to force Beijing to step up efforts to stop Pyongyang nuclear program

Hillary allegedly said the US will ring China with missiles if they don't step up and confront North Korea

HILLARY Clinton allegedly said that the US could surround China with MISSILES if Beijing won’t step in and help put an end to North Korea’s nuclear program.

Leaked emails show the US Presidential candidate threatening to “ring China with missile defence” if it doesn’t agree to Washington’s requests and use its influence over the one-party state to stop developing the weapons.

In 2013, when she was head of the US State Department, Clinton apparently said in a private speech:

"We're going to ring China with missile defence. We're going to put more of our fleet in the area."

The private speech transcript was amongst leaked emails belong to her campaign manager John Podesta.

The document, part of 10,000 released by WikiLeaks since last week, also revealed that Clinton confronted Chinese officials after they opposed plans by the US and South Korea to deploy a nuclear defence system in the South to protect the North.

She allegedly said that potential missiles "could actually reach Hawaii and the West Coast theoretically” before adding: "So China, come on. You either control them [North Korea] or we're going to have to defend against them."

China is North Korea’s most important investor, providing the country with energy and food assistance – a position which the US want them to use as a bargaining chip in an attempt to block the North from using nuclear.

Fears are mounting that North Korea is planning something during the US Presidential election, after a think-tank revealed that Kim Jon-Ung may order his military leaders to carry out another nuclear blast or launch a long-range rocket.

Last month, Kim’s government warned if the Obama administration continued to pursue sanctions the US would be inviting a “merciless nuclear strike which will lead them to a final ruin”.

“The people of the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) are now burning with hatred for the sworn enemies,” a spokesperson for the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee in Pyongyang said.

They added: “The DPRK is fully ready to mercilessly strike brutal provocateurs keen on sanctions… and wipe them out to the last man any moment.”

There have been three previous incidences when North Korea has tried to hijack a US election, and tensions between the countries have been mounting since they carried out their fifth and largest nuclear test last month.

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not responded to the remarks.

Clinton's team has neither confirmed nor denied the validity of the hacked emails.
