A VAN driver uses his laptop as he drives one-handed at 50mph on Britain’s busiest motorway.

Witnesses filmed him staring at the screen on the seat beside him as lorries thundered past.

He looks up momentarily in a 17-second clip captured by a passenger in another car.

The witness claims the man also chatted on his phone.

The laptop film shows the words “technical services” on his silver Volkswagen but no company name.

The witness said: “This man was one of many drivers we had clocked ­earlier using their phone. That was ridiculous enough, but about ten ­minutes later we spotted him again and he’s bashing away at his keyboard. He would momentarily look up to check the road but for 90 per cent of the time he was on his computer.

“He put everyone on the road in danger and he could have caused a massive accident. His behaviour was outrageous. He was a true idiot.”

Gary Rae, of road safety charity Brake, said: “This is shocking and unacceptable behaviour from someone who’s more interested in his laptop screen than looking at the windscreen.
