Charles Conrad and Alan Bean were amazed to find Miss September and Miss October 1967 of the then wildly-popular nudey mag on their checklists during the 1969 Apollo 12 mission.
When they discovered the rude pics after riding a lunar lander down to the moon's Ocean of Storms they showed each other and burst into laughter - but didn't mention it because they thought the tax-paying public wouldn't want porn discussed during such an important scientific endeavour.
Dave Scott, the backup commander for Apollo 12, thought it would be a wheeze to insert the topless beauties into the little wire-bound flip books that contained a checklist of everything the space pioneers had to do during the time-sensitive mission.
The prankster even printed them on NASA's fireproof, plastic-coated paper.
