Residents force the resignations of nine council bosses over the handling of the Grenfell Tower tragedy
A petition signed by more than 1,500 residents has led to the authority’s nine cabinet members standing down

BESIEGED Kensington and Chelsea council bosses have agreed to the demands of residents to sack councillors and halt building work after the Grenfell Tower fire.
A petition signed by more than 1,500 residents has led to the authority’s nine cabinet members standing down.
It comes weeks after council chief exec Nicholas Holgate and leader Nicholas Paget-Brown resigned over the handling of the fire in which at least 80 died.
The petition, which will go before councillors on Wednesday, states: "We, the undersigned, who live or work in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, demand the immediate resignation of the full cabinet of RBKC.
"The cabinet's decisions across a series of departments have culminated in the horrifying and completely avoidable loss of life in the catastrophic fire at Grenfell Tower on the June 14.
"Given the council's failure to respond to the litany of safety and fire concerns raised by Grenfell Tower residents, we have no confidence in this council's ability to manage or build public buildings and therefore demand the immediate cessation of all regeneration projects.

"Particularly the construction of new buildings, but including the demolition, or 'improvement' of current buildings stock - projects of the kind that the current cabinet have shown themselves grossly incapable of managing."
Identifying victims of the disaster is getting “more difficult” with 37 formally identified so far, a coroner said.
Inquests were opened and adjourned on Yahya Hashim, 13, Sirria Choucair, 60, Marjorie Vital, 68, and Kamru Miah, 79, at Westminster coroner’s court yesterday.
