‘Sour’ Labour MP faces furious backlash after she claims Princess Diana would have hated her son’s wedding
Emma Dent Coad also called for the National Anthem to be scrapped in her latest anti-royal rant

A KILLJOY Labour politician was branded “ghastly” today after shamelessly using the memory of Princess Di to lash out at the monarchy on Prince Harry’s wedding day.
Tory MPs slammed Emma Dent Coad after The Sun revealed her claims that Harry’s late mum would not have supported the big day - given the huge amount it cost.
Ms Dent Coad - who has previously mocked Prince Harry’s military record - also called for the National Anthem to be scrapped. And she said she couldn’t see the point of the Royal Family.
The Kensington MP told the anti-monarchist group Republic's national convention: “I remember Diana, the Princess of Wales, taking her young sons out at night to see the street-sleepers.
“This week we have had stories of Windsor's street cleaners cleaning the street's homeless, who had their possessions compounded, while keen monarchists sleep out in their clothes so they can cheer on the royal parade.
“I can't believe she would have remained silent on £30million spent on security for a royal carriage ride around Windsor while street homeless are so cruelly displaced.”
Taking to Twitter, Tory backbencher Simon Hoare stormed: “If the comic book ghastly Dent Coad has a redeeming feature I’m afraid it’s passed me by. She is too sour. She’s a character from a Penny Dreadful.”
Trade Minister Greg Hands called her comments "grim", adding: “Blimey, just as well the Royal Horticultural Society’s superb event starting today is the Chelsea Flower Show, not the Kensington Flower Show.
“I at least am looking forward to seeing HM The Queen and much of the Royal Family later.”
The Kensington MP, whose constituency covers Grenfell Tower, accused the royals of not doing enough to help those affected by the tragic blaze which killed 71 people last summer.
Ms Dent Coad said it was a "lovely idea" to use the hundreds of rooms in royal palaces to house the homeless.
And she demanded a new national anthem, calling the current one "jingoistic" and "disturbing".
She added she "crossed my fingers in my head" when she was forced to pledge loyalty to the Queen when she was first elected as an MP last June.

At Saturday's big event it was widely speculated that Harry had left a seat empty next to brother William as a touching tribute to their late mum.
Diana’s sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, who rarely makes public appearances, did one of the readings too. "Set me as a seal upon your heart," she read, "for love is strong as death."
One of the hymns at the ceremony was also sung at Diana's funeral, and Meghan’s bouquet was hand-picked by Harry from Diana's garden.
