Price claimed Olympic bronze in 2008 – four years before Joshua picked up gold in London.
Joshua will make his first title defence against American Dominic Breazeale at the O2 Arena on June 25.
And it is understood AJ's promoter Eddie Hearn is currently considering giving Price a crack at him - should he successfully negotiate that fight.
Scouser Price, 32, returned to winning ways by stopping Vaclav Pejsar on the Tony Bellew undercard at Goodison Park last month.
