Floyd Mayweather vs John Gotti III LIVE RESULTS: Money puts fierce rivalry to bed by outboxing mobster’s grandson

two boxers are fighting in a ring with the word bbva on the ropes

FLOYD MAYWEATHER put on a boxing masterclass in his highly-anticipated rematch against John Gotti III.

The two first went head-to-head in an exhibition bout in Florida in June 2023, with the fight ending in chaos.

But there was no drama this time round as Money outboxed the mobster’s grandson without really breaking a sweat.

  • Mayweather appears to axe ref mid-fight

Fuming Floyd Mayweather appeared to AXE the referee during his rematch with John Gotti III which once again ended in a farce.

Last summer, Mayweather's exhibition with the grandson of notorious New York crime boss John Gotti finished in an all-out brawl.

Gotti III was disqualified for holding and trash-talking before a melee broke out in the ring leading up to a rematch more than 12 months in the making.

And after just two rounds of the rematch in Mexico, it looked to be heading for the same outcome.

Mayweather, 47, landed what looked to be a perfectly legitimate hook on Gotti, 31 - only for the ref to step in and deem it illegal.

Arguments erupted in the ring with the so-called billionaire boxing icon Mayweather left fuming and seemingly sacking the official by demanding he got out of his way so he could carry on.

  • Mayweather deal to fight three more times

Mayweather revealed prior to his exhibition with Gotti that he has a contract to fight at least three more times.

He said: "We just got a call about a three exhibition deal and it's a crazy number.

"If I was taking abuse and I was getting battered then I think I'd step away."

But he insists he is not only fighting for the money, adding: "Am I doing it for the money? Absolutely not. I'm doing it because this is what I want to do. It's not like I'm hurting.

"And the people are enjoying it, my team is enjoying it and it's good to be able to travel to different places and train and shake hands with different people from all walks of life."

  • Mayweather's professional record

Floyd Mayweather's exhibition overnight will not go on his professional record.

The American retired after his 50th and final pro bout in 2017 when he stopped Conor McGregor.

He hung up his gloves with a perfect record of 50 wins from 50 fights.

Mayweather talked down an exhibition with 62-year-old Julio Cesar Chavez.

He said: "He's older now and if I do an exhibition with him, it's not going to look good on me.

"He paved the way for me and he does so much for the sport of boxing and for all the young Mexican fighters after him.

"This is one of the guys who paved the way, he's one of the best fighters of all time."

Mayweather shares a moment with the great Julio Cesar Chavez in the ring.

He says: "Julio Cesar Chavez, he's a legend, he's one of the guys that paved the way for me.

"An unbelievable fighter, one of the best fighters. He beat my uncle Roger twice, I have to tip my hat off to this legend.

"He's one of the guys I was watching when I came up and I just want to let him know I'm proud of him."

The two shared a hug after the fight and Gotti says Mayweather has "still got it.

Round 8 – Mayweather comes out active again in the final round but Gotti covers up well.

He is warned for a back off the head shot but the exhibition draws to a close with little action.

Mayweather look sharp at times but looked to be pulling his punches a bit while Gotti looked reluctant to let his hands go.

Round 7 – Mayweather really sits down on his punches and lets his hands go, landing some nasty lefts to the body.

Gotti does return fire but Mayweather is overwhelming him at times.

Round 6 – Mayweather takes the fight to close quarters and the two trade body shots.

But not a lot of action in that round with clinching filling up the session.

  • Mayweather vs Gotti III

Round 5 – Mayweather still in control, pumping out the jab and throwing long leaping hooks.

Gotti is blocking the right hooks coming his way and does step up the pressure a bit more this round.

Round 4 – Pace of the bout slows a little as the two trade body shots on the inside.

Mayweather does land a few good right hands with Gotti unable to get out the way.

Nothing seems to trouble Gotti too much but he is offering little going forward.

  • Mayweather vs Gotti III

Round 3 – Mayweather tees off on Gotti, who is on the ropes complaining to the ref.

Mayweather lands a succession of body and head shots but backs off as Gotti comes forward.

Round 2 - Confusion as Mayweather lands a hook but the ref tells him off for a back of the head shot.

The corners get involved and another DQ threatens to be on the horizon.

Order does resume but sensationally after the referee is SWITCHED mid-fight. Crazy scenes as the fight resumes.

  • Mayweather vs Gotti III

Round 1 - Mayweather is quick off the mark, showing off a sharp jab and looking to go to the body.

He lands a rapid counter right hand, reminiscent of his former prime.

Gotti, who promised to take the fight to Mayweather, lands one right to the body but looks far too cautious.

National anthems out the way and introductions completed, we're almost there.

Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III settle it once and for all in Mexico.

Will it be Mayweather's vast experience and skill to prevail or Gotti's youth and size which helps pull of an almighty upset?

  • It's personal

John Gotti III insisted the rivalry with Floyd Mayweather must get settled in the ring.

He said: "I know this is going to be a very tough fight.

"I know there's a lot of bad blood and I know man-to-man, Floyd wants to settle this as do I.

"Forget all the boxing and all that other stuff. It's between me and him. It's personal.

"In the ring, it's personal. Outside the ring, I wish him a 100 years of health and happiness.

"But how would I feel to knock him out? I'd feel great."

  • Cur it off

Floyd Mayweather's 18-year-old protege Curmel Moton has just knocked out Victor Vazquez in a round.

The mobster's grandson said: "We have to get in the trenches here and fight — there's no other way.

"If he has to get knocked out, if I have to get knocked out, so be it. It has to happen.

“Whatever is going to happen is going to happen."
