Horizon Zero Dawn designers sketch terrifying visions of post-apocalypse Britain
Makers of critically acclaimed video game sketch grim portraits of the nation after the fall of civilisation

YOU might think Britain is pretty grim on a cold February afternoon.
But just wait until you see what it would look like after robots had wiped out most of humanity.
That's the terrifying vision sketched by the creators of the Playstation 4 game Horizon Zero Dawn, an adventure set in an era when our species are at war with machines.
They have drawn up up eight images which show various British cities after the apocalypse.
Steve Hart, a "prepper" who's busy preparing for the end of the world, has also offered his 10 top tips for surviving the catastrophic collapse of society.
How to survive the apocalypse, by Steve Hart
- Have a positive survival attitude. This will set you apart from others who do not have the will to continue and just give up.
- Gain knowledge about all aspects of survival, learning from from books and YouTube videos or going to bushcraft schools.
- Build up a good equipment kit and tailor it to suit your specific needs. You can only do this by gaining survival knowledge first. A good survival kit is very different from just going camping!
- Make sure you are very familiar with all your survival equipment and ensure you know exactly how it works before you need it.
- Go out and practice all the survival skills you think you are going to need. Find weaknesses in your kit and make corrections. Don’t assume you can do it simply because you’ve seen someone on YouTube make it look easy.
- Make sure you have a means to start fire – not just one, but at least two different methods, and carry some dry tinder with you for an emergency if it’s raining and wet.
- Gather equipment that will enable you to collect, carry and to purify water for safe drinking.
- Get a good means of shelter – a small waterproof tent, a hammock and tarp, survival bivouac. Even a survival blanket can be formed to make a survival shelter.
- Make sure you've got a medical kit – especially for personal medication. A basic pre-made kit is not good enough, make up a kit for outdoor survival. It should cover every day first aid and bigger medical accidents.
- Get yourself physically fit. Escaping a disaster, even hiking 10 miles, with a loaded survival rucksack over rough terrain, is hard work. For most, average people, it will be too much.
"Very few people survive anything without knowledge and preparation before the disaster ever happens," he said.
"The key to survival is preparing for the worse and hoping for the best."
Horizon Zero Dawn is available exclusively on PlayStation 4 from March 1st.
