Apple is preparing to release a new 10.5 inch iPad Pro which is a slightly larger version of its tablet computer.

It will be powered by a A10X CPU which is a "powerhouse" that's 90 percent faster than the older A9 chip.

Apple unveiled two new versions of its iPad Pro: the larger with a 12.9 inch screen and the new 10.5 inch version.

The new version of the iPad features a new glossy display which can show "crisper, smoother" video and smoother moving graphics.

It will come with the same 12 megapixel camera as the iPhone 7, as well as a 7 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and Facetime.

"The iPad is truly a magical piece of glass that transforms into anything you want," Tim Cook said.

Apple's iOS 11 will also be "the biggest release" for iPad ever.

It features a new dock to store apps, which looks a bit like the dock from Mac computers.

The software introduces drag and drop facility which lets you move stuff around.
You could, for instance, drag a web address from a browser into an email, rather than having to copy and paste like the olden days.

The new iOS also introduces a "super fast and super easy" keyboard which can be flicked to select punctuation, rather than requiring you to press shift to view a different keyboard.

Apple also confirmed the arrival of a new app called Files which lets you manage files and data in the sort of detail normally associated with desktop or laptop computers.

Pencil can also be used to annotate pictures and even screenshots of websites which can then be shared along, removing the need to print out documents. 

The 10.5-inch iPad Pro comes in silver, space grey, gold and rose gold and starts at £619 for the 64GB wifi model.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is available in silver, space grey and gold and starts at £769 for the 64GB wifi version.
