The Apprentice star Lord Sugar splits from another young entrepreneur after parting company with show’s winner

LORD SUGAR is normally the one saying “You’re fired!”
But this week, he was on the receiving end for the first time after his winning contestant bought back his shares in her company, continuing the business without him.
Harpreet Kaur was awarded £250,000 of investment from the businessman for her dessert business Oh So Yum! after her victory on The Apprentice last year.
But just 18 months later, she and her sister have taken back control of the business by buying Lord Sugar’s shares.
And on the same day it was also revealed that he had called things off with entrepreneur Amani Zubair, of online store Tresor, who made jewellery with charming phrases telling people to “f*** off”.
An insider said: “Lord Sugar is all about trying to give young entrepreneurs a helping hand, but there’s never any guarantee he’ll work with them forever.

“Amani was already fortunate enough to gain his support without actually appearing on The Apprentice.
“While Harpreet got his backing after winning the programme in March last year, but since then he’s partnered up with the winner of this year’s show.”
'Full control'
Four months ago, Marnie Swindells won the final of the BBC One contest with her proposal to build a chain of boxing gyms, and became the latest entrepreneur to gain a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar.
Confirming he was parting business ways with Harpreet, who had a business selling desserts, Lord Sugar posted a statement on his social media that read: “Harpreet Kaur, The Apprentice winner 2022, has bought back Lord Sugar’s shares in her desserts business, Oh So Yum!

“This move marks a significant achievement in the journey of the Yorkshire-based entrepreneur, who won Season 16 of the show and secured a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar.
“With the purchase of Lord Sugar’s shares, Harpreet and her sister, Gurvinder Kaur, are now in full control of the business and its future direction.
“The separation has been amicable and Lord Sugar and Harpreet Kaur mutually agreed it was the best decision for the business moving forward.”
Harpreet added: “I am extremely grateful for the knowledge and support that Lord Sugar and his team of advisers have given me.”
Show is so hoard to watch
RUMMAGING through a jar of old toenail clippings as part of your job job sounds grim.
But for antiques expert Clive Downham, it’s just another day in the business.
The auctioneer is one of four experts to join Millionaire Hoarders, a new Channel 4 show helping people sell on their prized possessions.
And while Clive often strikes gold hunting for historical items, it’s not all glamour.
He explains: “People are deliciously weird sometimes and that’s why we’re in the business. You go into people’s houses and there are all kinds of odd stuff.
“You’ll look in a jar and find it’s got ten years’ worth of grandad’s toenail clippings, and you say, ‘I don’t think anyone will want those’.
“People get stuffed squirrels and dress them up.
“You just think to yourself, ‘Why would anyone want that?’”
Millionaire Hoarders airs tomorrow night at 8pm.
