A NEPO baby has announced that she is releasing a new music – after previously following in the footsteps of her Hollywood actor father.
The 33-year-old star, who previously appeared in cult favourites Happy Death Day and Shameless US, announced on Instagram that a sultry track is on its way.
While Ruby is yet to reveal or tease the song, she posted the title alongside her posing in a red hue in a dress while playing with her hair.
She simply wrote: “I DONT WANNA BE YOUR FRIEND xo Available on all streaming platforms 05.05.2025”
Ruby is the daughter of American actor Matthew Modine, who is currently best known for his role as the mysterious Dr Brenner – Eleven’s ‘Papa’ – in Stranger Things.
He’s also had starring roles in Oppenheimer, Full Metal Jacket, Vision Quest, and The Dark Knight Rises.
Ruby’s mother, Caridad Rivera, is a Puerto Rican make-up and wardrobe stylist.
Ruby, and her brother Boman, have both seemingly picked up their parents' artistic flair, with Ruby landing a major role in Shameless US, opposite Jeremy Allen White.
She played Sierra Morton throughout seasons seven and eight of the long-running show, which follows the troublemaking Gallagher family led by alcoholic Frank (William H Macy) as they try to make ends meet on Chicago's South Side.
During her time on the show, character Sierra was hired by Fiona (Emmy Rossum) at Patsy's Pie Shop, and later came into the Gallagher fold when she started dating the family's eldest son, Lip (Jeremy Allen White).
A young single mum with a small son, she is torn between Lip – a functioning alcoholic – and her son's father, Charlie (a drug addict himself).
On top of that, she became one of the stars of Happy Death Day, which follows a college student, Tree, who is mysteriously murdered – and has to repeatedly relive it as she gets stuck in a time loop.
Becoming a surprise success, the film later got its own sequel in Happy Death Day 2 U – with Ruby reprising her role as Tree's roommate, Lori.
When not on the screen, Ruby has been quietly releasing music, starting with an EP alongside her band, Ruby Modine and the Disease.
She later released music alone, with tracks including This Land is Your Land, which was released in 2021, and Fun While it Lasted, which was released last year.
She's so far dropped one album, and released covers of sultry classic Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps and Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.
