Callum Beattie reveals he spent £1,000 to give Calvin Harris a tape of his songs – and he still hasn’t heard back
The Scottish singer-songwriter sought out the superstar DJ during a stag do in Las Vegas

SINGER-SONGWRITER Callum Beattie revealed he forked out a small fortune to get his music into the hands of Calvin Harris.
The determined Scotsman turned a stag do with pals into a career opportunity as he headed to one of the DJ's gigs armed with his tunes.
Speaking to The Sun Online at V Festival, Callum explained: "I met Calvin Harris in Las Vegas one year. I went over there on a stag do.
"I put on my kilt and brought a few demos with me. I was still playing in the bars at the time. He said he'd give it a listen. It cost me $300 a ticket to get in and $1000 for a bottle of vodka but at least he got the demo."
However, it doesn't look like a collaboration between the pair is going to happen just yet.
When asked if he'd heard back from his fellow Scotsman, Callum said: "No, but I've got a couple of songs if he's interested [laughs].'
The We Are Stars singer also recalled the time he blagged his way on stage with R.E.M at T in the Park.
He explained: "I used a Hi-Vis vest to sneak in and was handing out my demo to all these rock stars. I was helping myself to all this lager backstage and I fell asleep.

"Anyway, I woke up and when R.E.M were headlining so I just walked up to the side of the stage and pretended I was working there.
"I thought I might not be able to play to 70,000 people I'll take my chances and sort of ran on and I think it was caught on telly. I basically headlined T in the Park [laughs]."
