STEPHANIE Davis has shared her joy at being nominated in the Best Actress category at this year's British Soap Awards just over one year after she attempted suicide.
The 26-year-old actress opened up about her mental health battle in a candid Instagram post, with the Hollyoaks star previously being honest about her struggle during an abusive relationship with ex-boyfriend Jeremy McConnell.
Sharing a photo of herself in character as Sinead Shelby for the Best Actress nominee poster, Stephanie wrote: "I AM UP FOR BEST ACTRESS!!!! I cannot believe it! Over a year ago I was suicidal and tried taking my own life, I dreaded waking up in the mornings, I had no hope, I seen no light.
"I felt dead inside, I was battered emotionally & physically & TOTALLY gave up on life. I cannot believe how far I've come!!!
"I've fought SO hard, I've raised my son alone, I asked for help, I re-built myself, which I felt like it was going to take a life time, I'm happy again, I'm alive and free & truly happy, my family are smiling again, I've made them proud!
"I have a beautiful supportive partner, amazing management. I have a wonderful amazing boss who BELIEVED in me & brought me back to Hollyoaks to do what I do best... to be an actress.
"I'm beyond privileged to be given a storyline that is not only so close to me but that can help so many people who have been in & are still in this situation, in a toxic narcissistic, dangerous relationship.
"As you can imagine it's been very challenging for me to film, but I've done it!! It was so hard but I got through it and I've gave it my absolute ALL!! Because I once said, if anything I've gone through can help at least ONE person.. I'd be happy- and with this storyline, I'm getting to reach out to so many people!"
The star concluded her empowering post by urging her fans to vote for her in the awards.
She added: "It would mean the absolute WORLD to me, if you could vote for me for best actress at the British Soap Awards so I'm shortlisted. The link is on my bio and if you could take time to vote all things Hollyoaks and me for Best Actress I'd be absolutely made up.

Stephanie met Jeremy on Celebrity Big Brother, with the pair mum and dad to two-year-old son Caben-Albi.
In 2017, Jeremy was found guilty of assaulting Stephanie during a cocaine-fuelled row, with Stephanie breaking down in tears as the judge convicted her former lover after she recounted chilling details of how Jeremy threw her around like a "rag doll" and called her a "s**g" in a violent argument over a sex toy.
Jeremy was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, he was then jailed for breaching a community order by flying to Turkey for a hair transplant.
He spent 34 days behind bars over Christmas 2017 as Cardiff Magistrates' Court activated his suspended jail term.
Since leaving prison, Jeremy has found himself under investigation by the police after he was accused of pestering the mother of his child with social media messages.
A Merseyside Police spokesman told The Sun Online at the time: "[We] received an allegation that a restraining order has been breached by a 27-year-old man.
"A report was received on 12 January that the man had contacted a former partner.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish whether or not the order has been breached and appropriate action will be taken."
Stephanie reprised her role as Sinead in Hollyoaks towards the end of last year after three years away from the soap.
In recent weeks, the actress has been praised for her performance after her character was raped by her husband Laurie.
