THE "We've got our Arsenal back" drama going off in the Arsenal community is a real oddity considering the surprising success the club is having so early on under the Emery regime.
Fans who protested against change for ten years with the warning of "Be careful what you wish for" are dealing with some serious egg on face, and it's led to frayed feelings.
The tension over the song stems from the Arsene Wenger dark days when certain fans would demand their Arsenal back, usually with a #WengerOut piece of A4 paper, shouting at an AFTV microphone.
The underpinnings of this sentiment were the feeling the club had been taken hostage by an ambitionless owner, a meek CEO and a manager well past his sell-by date.
The fans joyously singing the song weren't implying that Arsenal are back in the sense of being title contenders, they were merely expressing elation at the weird feeling of being hopeful again.

The club addressed the spine of the squad in the summer; we're slowly changing how we play, and players are looking fitter and more motivated than ever before.
Every part of the club that was broken is now being fixed.
Getting your Arsenal back isn't about winning trophies, it's about the feeling we all have knowing that the club is putting as much effort into its future success as we have been into our continued support.
Emery misunderstood the question when he was asked if he agreed with the song.
“I am not agreeing totally with the response of the supporters,” he said.

The beauty of his response is that it was exactly why we all feel so good. He's had a tremendous opening to the season but is entirely realistic about the realities of what's ahead.
The fans do have their Arsenal back, Emery has been a driving force on the pitch, but don't discount the countless other improvements that led to that song.
